Method

Villa Valentijn Den Haag has opted for horizontal core groups and has 44 day care places available and consists of four core groups:

  • Pink group 3 – 12 months (8 children)

  • Yellow group 1 – 2 years (10 children)

  • Turquoise group 2 – 3 years (12 children)

  • Red group 3 – 4 years (14 children)

For children of different ages in one main group, the arithmetic average is calculated, which can be rounded up. If, in accordance with the teacher-child ratio, there is only one professional present in the childcare center, support for this professional by another adult in the event of an emergency has been arranged.

As standard, two leaders are scheduled per core group, except at times when the number of children justifies one leader. We adhere to the National Government’s Calculation Tool.

The reason for choosing horizontal care in this form is that this layout fits well with the different stages of development of the child. Each group therefore has its own level of development and the different groups follow each other.

This division gives the group leader the opportunity to provide a one-on-one development-oriented program. In addition, the design of the groups (toys, furniture) is specifically aimed at the relevant development phase.

Note

We work as horizontal as possible, but sometimes the number of children does not allow it and we are forced to deviate and to merge the primary groups to go about. So to work vertically. This happens at present structurally on Wednesday and Friday. Wednesday will be the Pink and Yellow group are pooled and the trunk group Pink will be closed. Friday will be the Pink – and Yellow group are pooled and the trunk group Pink will be closed.

Children can be placed for activities to another primary group space. This also applies during sleep hours. Obviously there will be given at all times to leidster-/kind ratio .

During opening and closing there is an open door policy and the children will first be gathered together with children from another group, in order to split the groups again at 8:00 am. This also applies at the end of the day. The children are then gathered in another group to be picked up.

We reserve the right that the ages may differ slightly, without losing sight of the law. The transition from one group to the other will take place according to age, but also according to placement options. Your child may therefore move on to the next group 3 months earlier or later.
